The Usha Mittal Institute of Technology (UMIT) is organizing a five-day intensive Faculty Development Program (FDP) titled "High Performance Computing (HPC): Case Studies and Application Domains". This program is conducted under the PM-USHA (MERU) Project, which focuses on upgrading institutions into centers for advanced, multidisciplinary research in alignment with the National Education Policy 2020.

Faculty Development Program on High Performance Computing (HPC) Brochure

Program Overview :

This FDP provides in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in modern HPC practices. It emphasizes practical exposure using the PARAM SHAVAK Supercomputer and GPU-Accelerated HPC Systems, enabling participants to execute, monitor, and optimize real-world workloads.

Dates: May 04 - May 08, 2026.

Mode: Face-to-Face (Offline).

Venue: HPC Lab, 5th Floor, UMIT, SNDT Women's University, Juhu Campus, Mumbai.

Timings: 9:00 AM to 05:15 PM daily.

Objectives & Outcomes :

The program empowers faculty with essential research skills to drive innovation and quality in higher education.

Key Objectives:

  • To introduce fundamental concepts and architecture of modern HPC systems, including GPU-accelerated environments.

  • To provide hands-on exposure to centralized HPC infrastructure using PARAM SHAVAK.

  • To develop an understanding of heterogeneous CPU-GPU computing and accelerator-based execution.

  • To train participants in executing and monitoring HPC workloads using real tools.

  • To expose participants to real-world HPC applications such as AI, rendering, and geospatial analytics.

Expected Outcomes:

Participants will be able to explain HPC architectures , analyze performance bottlenecks , optimize workloads using techniques like batch tuning and mixed precision , and design laboratory experiments or student projects using HPC infrastructure.
